Metro Gold Line

The Metro Gold Line, part of the Metro Rail network, is a light rail line connecting Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to the city of Pasadena. There are thirteen stops on the line, serving the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Chinatown, Lincoln Heights, Mount Washington, and Highland Park, as well as the cities of South Pasadena and Pasadena. The line is located mostly above ground, at either street level or on an elevated structure. However, Memorial Park station is located below street level, and there are three relatively short tunnels along the line as well. The Gold Line opened in July 2003 and is currently being extended past Union Station to East Los Angeles.

The fleet of the Metro Gold Line is currently composed of Siemens P2000 light rail vehicles (LRVs), which normally operate in two-car formations (with the exception of one-car trains used during the evenings and weekend mornings.) Metro has also received a number of Breda P2550 LRVs, several of which have been currently placed into limited service.
