TMC RTS T80208

The CTA ordered a large order of TMC RTS buses in the early 1990s, including these T80208 models as well as 96 inch-wide versions (T80608) as well. These vehicles ushered in a new red, white and blue livery, which was later applied to the CTA's entire fleet. All of these buses were of the RTS-08 family, the most prominent feature of which was a larger front door and a redesigned, flatter front end. While the 96 inch-wide RTSs have been retired due to their lack of wheelchair lifts, the former buses are still operating for CTA and are expected to be retired soon with New Flyer low-floor vehicles.

The RTSs originally did not feature air conditioning, as the CTA had hoped to save money by omitting the air conditioning units. The buses were delivered as some of the only RTSs with rear windows. However, they were later equipped with air conditioning, which necessitated removal of the rear windows.
