Neoplan AN-440LF ETB

MBTA's Neoplan AN-440LF ETB (Electric Trolley Bus) fleet was delivered in 2004 and currently operates on the Cambridge trackless trolley lines. They are constructed from modified Neoplan AN-440LF shells with electrical equipment and other paraphernalia added. Several differences that differentiate the ETBs from the diesel AN-440LFs are that the rear door is located farther back on the ETBs, and the ETBs also have driver-side doors for use in the Harvard bus tunnel. In addition, the ETBs do not have license plates.

With the opening of the Silver Line Waterfront (Phase II) service, a number of AN-440LF ETBs were wrapped in a silver livery and assigned to the South Boston branches of the Silver Line. However, they have been replaced by the Neoplan AN-460LF DMA dual-mode articulated buses, and the silver AN-440LFs were "unwrapped" and re-assigned to Cambridge service.
