Green Bus Lines

One of Green Bus Lines' MCI Classic buses. This is a "transit" Classic used on local routes, a rarity among New York-area Classics.
Green Bus Lines (GBL) was a former private bus company mainly operating local routes in the borough of Queens. GBL also operated several routes that entered Brooklyn, as well as a number of other express routes between Queens and Manhattan. The company was taken over by MTA Bus on January 9, 2006.

Green's fleet was a varied one. A good portion of the Green fleet consisted of elderly GMC RTS buses constructed in the mid-1980s; as well as these, Green also operated a number of MCI Classics (suburban and transit), diesel TMC RTS buses, and diesel Orion Vs that were originally ordered by the Washington Area Metropolitan Transportation Authority (WMATA) but rejected due to lack of funding. The Green fleet also contained three suburban Orion V buses without rear doors that had produced unsatisfactory results at New York Bus Service.
